One of the biggest problems I hear from people who are trying to start, or stay on, a home workout program is that it’s really hard to stay motivated. It’s not an easy thing to do. Results don’t happen overnight, life gets in the way of finding time to work out, and it’s not always fun – especially at first. But the bottom line is that the best home workout is the one that you are able to do every day, because that’s when you’ll start to see results that will change your life. So, what do you do when you need a little extra motivation? Hopefully these tips will help you.

One of the smartest things I ever did when starting a home workout program was to find an accountability partner at the same time. This person was able to motivate me on days that I didn’t feel like I was getting anywhere and to give me a swift kick in the butt when I started to slack. An accountability partner is a great way to stay on track, even when you don’t feel like doing it on your own.

Coming to the realization that I didn’t always have to want to workout but that I did have to do it was another way that I found the motivation I needed to stay on my home workout program. Sometimes, in life, we all have to do things that we don’t want to do. We’ve got to get up and go to work when we’d rather stay in bed. We’ve got to pay bills when we’d rather spend our money on our next vacation – it’s just part of life. When you look at your home workout program in the same terms, it becomes a lot easier to do. Press that play button even when you don’t feel like it. Sometimes the motivation to do something comes after doing it! That’s a hard thing to learn, but it works!

Write down why you wanted to start a home workout program in the first place and what you goals are. Make a goal board with pictures of clothes you want to wear or things that are important to you. Look at your goal board and read your goals and reasons for starting a home workout program often – every day or several times a day is best. Remember that the end results are worth doing something that you don’t feel like doing right now. Even more important, remember that in order to reach your goals, you have to follow the process!

The very best home workout tip that I can give you though is to never allow yourself to give up. If you lose your motivation and you quit your workout program, find a way to get back on it again. Look for a workout partner next time, change your workout, try something completely different – but don’t give up! Don’t let yesterday’s failures stop you from meeting your goals today! Thomas Edison once said, “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close to success they were when the gave up.” Don’t let that be you!
